Daughter
of artist parents; her father HAP Grieshaber was a well known woodcut artist
in Germany. She is a muralist who experiments in a range of materials. Her
commissioned works can be found all over East Africa, including large murals
in hotels, ministries, hospitals, banks and office buildings. Using the
technique of concrete relief, mosaic, metal, glass blocks and stained glass,
she shows immense versatility and creativity.
Nani’s son, Anselm Croze, has expanded the studio to exploit the fascinating
world of hot glass. Together, they create art glass pieces, stemware, pressed
ware and flat glass. Using recycled window glass, Anselm and his team create
the most amazing pieces, never seen before in this medium. Their characteristic
colour is the Kitengela cobalt blue. The Kitengela studio itself uses the
rolled glass in its windows and panels, glass blocks as well as recycled
glass bricks, currently the studio’s most popular line of products.
These can be used in a variety of ways - entire double story walls to staircases,
doors, domes, tables and floor tiles.
